Equality & Diversity

The Clinical Commissioning Group is committed to eliminating unlawful discrimination and promoting equality of opportunity in respect to the way we commission healthcare services and to develop a diverse well supported workforce which reflects the population we serve.

We aim to achieve this through proactive engagement and consultation with patients, stakeholders, partners and staff who work within our organisation.

The Equality Act 2010 requires us to meet our Public Sector Equality Duty (PSED) across the range of protected groups of age, gender, disability, race, sex, sexual orientation, religion/belief, gender reassignment, marriage/civil partnership and pregnancy/maternity status.

As a public sector body, the CCG is required to prepare and publish Equality Objectives.  Our equality objectives are aligned with our vision, values and strategic objectives.

Equality objectives

We published Equality Objectives in 2014 and regularly monitor performance in relation these. Current equality objectives and our equality and diversity performance against them are detailed in our Annual Equality Report which can be found below

Improving access for all: reducing inequalities in access to general practice services.

Promoting equality and equity is at the heart of our values, ensuring fairness in the improvements being made to health outcomes in our 5 communities. The whole population should be able to access general practice services in a place and a time that is convenient for them. In particular we need to ensure that we reduce barriers to access for those harder to reach or disadvantaged groups within the population, and in doing so improve health outcomes.

LGBT Focus and resources

As commissioners of local health and care services, we are committed to ensuring that we follow good practice when monitoring both sexual orientation and gender and ensuring our GP colleagues have the resources to support them to understand some of the barriers faced by the LGBTCommunity when accessing General Practice.
